Storm slams Atlantic Canada causing power outages, road closures, & ferry delays


A powerful storm is slamming Atlantic Canada bringing snow, rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, and strong winds to the region.


There are several power outages, road closures, ferry delays, and a whole slew of weather warnings.


Power outages

There are several power outages across the region this morning. There are 147 customers without power in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia is reporting 57,474 customers without power, on Prince Edward Island 7,422 residents are without power, and in New Brunswick, there are 987 customers impacted by outages.


Travel & Transportation:

The Confederation Bridge is closed to all traffic until the current weather situation changes.


The following roads are closed in Nova Scotia:

  • Margaree Forks to Cheticamp

  • Amherst to Port Howe

  • River Hebert to Maccan

  • Parrsboro to Apple River

  • Southampton to Nappan

  • Springhill to Parrsboro

  • Oxford to Port Philip

  • Thomson Station to Folly Lake

  • Jct Trunk 4 to Fountain Road

  • Mahoneys Corner to Wallace Bay

  • TK 6 (0006) to NORTH WALLACE (0540)

  • Port Howe to Pugwash

  • St Croix Exit 4 to Hantsport Interchange Exit 8

  • HIGHWAY 101 WB EXIT 6 ON RAMP


The following roads are closed in Newfoundland and Labrador:

  • Cartwright Junction to Port Hope Simpson

  • Intersection Route 510 to Charlottetown

  • Intersection Route 514 to Pinsent's Arm

  • Intersection Route 510 to St. Lewis

  • Port Hope Simpson to Lodge Bay

  • Lodge Bay to Red Bay

  • Red Bay to Pinware

  • Pinware to Quebec Border

  • Flower's Cove to St. Anthony Airport

  • Plum Point to Flower's Cove


Ferries:

All Marine Atlantic crossings scheduled for this morning are cancelled. Crossings could be impacted tonight and tomorrow morning.


Nova Scotia
