Storm System Likely for Easter Weekend

A weather system is expected to move through Atlantic Canada beginning on Good Friday. At this time it looks like snow, rain, mixed precipitation and gusty winds are expected.

Snow is expected to begin across New Brunswick before dawn on Friday while rain or freezing rain moves into southern Nova Scotia. Snow will envelop New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island in the morning. It looks like Nova Scotia will see mostly rain with the risk of freezing rain and ice pellets. Over the Cape Breton Highlands, there is a risk of some snow.

Precipitation will move on to Newfoundland on Friday afternoon. It appears as though western Newfoundland will see some snow, there is a risk of ice pellets or freezing rain changing to rain in central, and rain for the Avalon.

It is important to note that this system is still a few days away so any change in the track could alter precipitation types, and as such, it is too early to provide expected precipitation amounts. Keep checking back for updates.
