Storm to bring snow, rain, and strong winds to Ontario


An area of low pressure will approach Ontario from the west bringing snow, rain, and strong winds tonight and Saturday.


Tonight snow is expected across northeastern Ontario. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible. There is the potential for some freezing rain tonight across central Ontario.


Then on Saturday, snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm is possible in northeastern Ontario. Winds will also be gusty resulting in blowing snow. Areas east of Lake Superior to Timmins could change over to freezing rain at times.


In eastern Ontario along the Ottawa Valley, freezing rain may continue on Saturday morning.


Portions of southern Ontario could end up seeing 25 to 45 mm of rain.


There is the potential for some very strong winds across Southern Ontario on Saturday.


Winds could gust between 70 and 90 km/h. For Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, eastern Lake Erie and eastern Lake Ontario, gusts could reach 110 km/h.


There is the potential for power outages and minor property damage.
