Stormy conditions continue across Newfoundland

It is a storm day for many in Newfoundland, especially on the Avalon Peninsula. While schools and some services are closed for the day, the storm will likely be ending in the not-too-distant future for the Avalon at least.

Radar scans around 7:30 am showed most precipitation ending over southern sections of Newfoundland.

This storm is unique in the sense that snowfall is varying quite a bit over small areas. For the St. John's metro area, another 5 to 10 cm is possible today but keep in mind this number will vary quite a bit based on elevation. Winds will begin to ease later this morning.

For the Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor area the snow will continue through Friday and into Friday night. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected. The winds will diminish this morning but pick up again on Friday afternoon.

For Corner Brook 5 to 10 cm is expected today, tonight, and into Friday.
