Strong storm rolls through Newfoundland

A strong winter storm continues to push across Newfoundland this morning.


From areas east of Gander travel is not recommended. There are a few road closures on the Northern Peninsula.


In central Newfoundland, additional snowfall amount between 10 and 15 cm is possible today before conditions improve this afternoon. Winds will gust between 100 and 130 km/h.


Along most of the west coast, snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm is expected with winds gusting to 80 km/h.


On the Avalon, strong winds are expected with gusts between 100 and 130 km/h for the northern Avalon peninsula, Bonavista peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, and Terra Nova.


Large waves and pounding surf today and overnight is expected for the Avalon and north-facing shores of the Island.
