Portions of British Columbia and Alberta are dealing with temperatures in the high 30s and even low 40s as the latest heatwave maintains its grip over the region.

The hottest place in Canada on Tuesday was Lytton, British Columbia where the temperature reached 42.2 degrees. A high of 40 degrees is expected today.

Other areas of British Columbia were hot on Tuesday. Abbotsford reached 32.1 degrees, Campbell River got up to 33.9 degrees and Revelstoke recorded a high of 35.1.

Alberta is hot too. On Tuesday Blood Tribe reached 36.4 degrees, Calgary hit 33.2 degrees, Lethbridge Airport reached 36.4 while Lethbridge hit 35.6 degrees.

In western British Columbia, it will begin to cool down today. Interior sections will see cooler temperatures on Thursday, and southern Alberta will see cooler weather arrive by Friday.

This hot weather combined with gusty winds in some areas can cause aggressive wildfire behaviours.
