Tantallon wildfire update


This morning fire crews are holding the Tantallon wildfire. There are no major changes in the fire compared to last evening.


The city of Halifax declared a State of Emergency in the communities affected by the fires. The local state of emergency will be in effect for seven days.


The RCMP is warning of heavy smoke in the UpperTantallon area, visibility is reduced along Highway 103.


About 200 structures have been damaged as a result of the fire, although a complete analysis has not yet been completed.


About 16,000 people remain evacuated. $500 will be available to households in the evacuated areas.


The fire danger is listed as high across most of Nova Scotia. The province has banned all fires throughout the province.
