The Amazon Rainforest is on Fire

The Amazon Rainforest is on fire, and it's not good news for Earth.

So far in 209, Brazil has seen a record number of fires.

Since January there have been 75,000 forest fires in Brazil.

Last year this time there were only 40,000.

The largest state in Brazil, Amazonas, has declared a state of emergency.

Plumes of smoke have spread across the region, as far as the Atlantic Ocean.

The Amazon rainforest, covering much of northwestern Brazil and extending into Colombia, Peru, and other South American countries, is the world’s largest tropical rainforest.
