This Appeared on Radar

Weather radar is an excellent tool for detecting precipitation, it can also detect other things such as insects and animals, just to name a few.

Such was the case last Wednesday when the radar in the Midwest picked up several areas of bugs.

The areas in blue are actually bugs.

Things appearing on the radar that is not precipitation is referred to as ground clutter.

Ground clutter is a common reference that will be made when examining weather radar. Things such as animals, dirt, and buildings are considered ground clutter.
