Tropical Development Possible in Western Caribbean


The Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico remain quiet but that could change over the next few days.


There is a large area of low pressure is expected to form over the western Caribbean Sea in a few days.


Over the next several days some gradual development is possible. The National Hurricane Center says that a tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend as the system moves slowly west-northwestward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea.


This is an area that was highlighted by the Climate Prediction Center as the most likely spot to see tropical development.

So far this year there have been twenty-three named storms. The next named storm will be Gamma from the Greek alphabet.
