Tropical Storm Fay forms southwest of the Azores

We now have Tropical Storm Fay.

Fay is located about 730 kilometres southwest of the Azores.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h, with higher gusts, and is moving north-northeast at approximately 7 km/h.

The National Hurricane Center expects Fay to continue moving north-northeast for about another day before turning toward the southwest on Monday.

Additional strengthening is expected over the next day or so. Tropical-storm-force winds currently extend outward up to approximately 75 kilometres from the centre.

There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
