Tropical wave has a medium chance of forming into tropical cyclone

There is a tropical wave located near the west coast of Africa in the eastern tropical Atlantic.

This feature is producing showers and thunderstorms that remain disorganized.

At this time, environmental conditions appear to be conducive for gradual development, and The National Hurricane Center says "a tropical depression could form during the early to middle portions of next week."

The system will move westward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

There is a 40 percent chance of this system becoming a tropical cyclone in the next seven days.

Bret will be the next named storm.
