Trudeau tours disaster areas

On Monday Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island and Sydney, Nova Scotia to meet with those impacted by Hurricane Fiona.


On Tuesday Trudeau met with Prince Edward Island Premier Dennis King to discuss the devastating impacts of Hurricane Fiona on the province.


On Wednesday Trudeau met with local community members in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador. Premier Furey, Minister Gudie Hutchings, and Minister Seamus O’Regan were also in attendance.


The federal government announced a donation-matching program with the Canadian Red Cross and will match donations Canadians and corporations make for the next 30 days with the possibility of an extension.


Canadians wishing to make a financial donation to help those impacted by Hurricane Fiona can do so online at www.redcross.ca, by calling 1-800-418-1111, by texting FIONA to 20222 to make a $10 donation.
