Tsunami advisories in Japan after large earthquake

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred off the northeastern coast of Japan on Monday afternoon, prompting tsunami alerts.
The earthquake occurred at 5:53 p.m. local time at a depth of 35 km. It was centred 100.6 km east-northeast of Miyako, Japan.
Tsunami warnings were issued for several prefectures in Japan with tsunami waves up to three metres expected; the warnings have since been lifted.
Tsunami Advisories are currently in effect for coastal regions in Japan. Tsunami waves have been recorded.
