Tsunami Advisories were issued in Alaska after several earthquakes
There were a series of earthquakes off the coast of Alaska last night the strongest of which was an 8.2 magnitude centred 91.3 km east-southeast of Perryville, Alaska.
Other earthquakes measured 7.2, 6.2, and 6.1.
A tsunami advisory was issued for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands. The US Tsunami Warning Center said that a tsunami was generated.
Some tsunami measurements were 15 cm at Sand Point and 21 cm at Old Harbor, Alaska.
The State of Alaska, State Emergency Operations Center was activated to call communities in the tsunami warning area. Sand Point, Chignik Bay, Chignik Lagoon, Nelson Lagoon, False Pass, King Cove, Old Harbor, Homer, and Kodiak report evacuation.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
The tsunami threat has since passed.
