Tsunami Warnings for coastal regions of Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued Tsunami Warnings for coastal regions of Japan. The “major tsunami warning” issued for Ishikawa prefecture was downgraded.


Waves of one metre hit some areas and evacuations were conducted. The tsunami threat has largely passed.


There was a 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Japan. The earthquake occurred at 4:10 p.m. local time and was at a depth of 10 kilometres.


It was centred 42.1 kilometres northeast of Anamizu, Japan.
