Typhoon Faxai Hits Japan Killing 3 and Injuring 40


Typhoon Faxai made landfall in Japan on Monday killing three people and injuring 40 others.


It made landfall in Chiba City, about 40 kilometers east of Tokyo.


Faxai was the first storm to strike the Kantō region since Mindulle in 2016, and the strongest storm to hit the region since Ma-on in 2004.


More than 390,000 people were urged to be evacuated.


Faxai left 934,000 households without power.


Trains service in JR East were canceled due to the storm.


Agricultural damage in Japan amounted to ¥13.47 billion (US$126 million).


Over 150 flights were canceled.
