On Monday afternoon crew members from the western Ireland's Doolin Ferry Company spotted something bright orange floating in the water.
Upon further investigation is was determined to be a U.S. Navy boat floating off the coast of Ireland.
The boat had been lost during a training exercise off the coast of Virginia last September. The boat had traveled 5,400 km across the ocean.
It's a High Speed Maneuverable Surface Target that can be used remotely and is used as target practice by the Navy.
