Writer: Kyle Sooley-BrookingsKyle Sooley-Brookings

Last year the planet experienced warmer-than-normal temperatures once again. 2021 was the 45th year in a row of warmer temperatures and the sixth warmest on record.

Both NASA and NOAA released separate reports.

The temperature was 0.84°C above the 20th-century average.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said, “science leaves no room for doubt: Climate change is the existential threat of our time”

Overall, the global annual temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.08°C per decade since 1880 and over twice that rate (0.18°C) since 1981.
