Water Bears Could be Living on the Moon

Thousands of water bears may be living on the moon.

Back in April, the Beresheet spacecraft crashed on the moon. It was carrying thousands of tardigrades -- also known as "water bears" or "moss piglets" when it crashed.

Water bears can survive in extremely low temperatures and harsh conditions.

The millimeter long animal lives in the harshes conditions found here on Earth.

Tardigrades are prevalent in mosses and lichens and feed on plant cells, algae, and small invertebrates.
