There is a large area of low pressure several hundred kilometers west-northwest of the Azores.
It is churning up large waves and producing strong winds.
There is a possibility that this system could acquire some subtropical characteristics over the next couple of days while it moves slowly southward to southeastward over slightly warmer water.
There is a 30 percent chance of the low become a tropical or subtropical storm over the next five days.
By Thursday night conditions are expected to become unfavorable for any further development.
