What to watch for in the February sky

On February 1, Venus will reach its prominence. There will be a close approach of the Moon and Venus.


On February 9, there will be a conjunction of the Moon and Mars.


The Full Moon on February 12 was known as the Snow Moon to some Indigenous peoples in North America, it was known as the Snow Moon because the heaviest snows usually fell around this time of the year.


On the 24. Mercury and Saturn will appear in the western sky in the evening.

  • Full Moon February 12

  • Last Quarter February 20

  • New Moon February 27
