Where is Reindeer Station?

In Canada's Northwest Territories, there is a location called Reindeer Station.

While the now uninhabited Reindeer Station may sound like something right out of a Christmas movie, the spot has a much different history.

The Government of Canada established the site in 1932 to house a herd of 3,442 reindeer that was purchased. The government set up the site with the hope that it would replace the traditional livelihood of the local Indigenous peoples, but few chose to become reindeer herders.

The government eventually sold the animals and Reindeer Station was abandoned in 1969.
