Winter storm causes school closures across the Maritimes

An area of low pressure will push across the Maritimes today, bringing snow to much of the region.


In southwestern Nova Scotia, snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 cm are expected combined with winds gusting from 60 to 80 km/h. Severe weather will continue until early Tuesday morning.


Northern and eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island will receive 20 to 30 cm of snow with winds gusting from 50 to 70 km/h until Tuesday afternoon.


Across southern New Brunswick, snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected until early Tuesday morning. Central New Brunswick will likely receive 10 to 20 cm of snow.


On Prince Edward Island, central and eastern areas should receive 15 to 25 cm of snow combined with wind gusts from 40 to 60 km/h. Prince County will receive 10 to 20 cm.

There are numerous school closures and post-secondary closures across Nova Scotia.
