23 dead after tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama

Severe thunderstorms ripped through Mississippi and Alabama overnight killing at least 23 people.


On Friday there were 24 reports of tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama.


The hardest hit was Rolling Fork, Mississippi. There were reports of catastrophic damage in the community. The Issaquena Community Hospital, located on the west side of town, was damaged by a tornado.


Completely destroyed structures including homes were left behind. There were reports of people trapped in buildings that were damaged.


In Silver City, Mississippi a man was killed and two children are in critical condition after being trapped in a home that was damaged by a tornado.


This morning there are over 80,000 power outages in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama according to poweroutage.us.
