3 dead after thunderstorms and scorpions attacks in Egypt

On Sunday evening parts of southern Egypt was hit with thunderstorms that produced hail and heavy rain.

The heavy rain forced scorpions from their hiding places which invaded homes and killed three people and 500 others were hospitalized.

Those in the hospital were provided anti-venom doses and later released. While there are about 1,500 different species of scorpions worldwide, only about 30 produce venom toxic enough to be fatal.

Crops were damaged and there were also several power outages across the region.
