A magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of Oregon on Thursday evening.

The earthquake occurred at 6:25 p.m. and was centred 300.3 kilometres west of Bandon, Oregon, at a depth of 7 kilometres.

Several people in Oregon reported feeling shaking.

There were no reports of any damage, and the National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska, said a tsunami was not expected.

Oregon sits above the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The Juan de Fuca Plate is being forced beneath the North American Plate.

Small to moderate earthquakes occur frequently offshore, while large earthquakes happen occasionally.
