6.1 earthquake off Japan coast
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the northeastern shore of Japan just after midnight local time on Sunday.
The earthquake was at a depth of 42 km and was centred 66.9 km east-southeast of Kushiro, Japan.
There was no tsunami warning issued and there were no immediate reports of damage.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said there was an observation of seismic intensity of five lower or more.
It was felt as far south as the Fukushima prefecture.
