6.1 magnitude earthquake near Japan


Late on Wednesday afternoon, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck 241.5 km north-northwest of Nanao, Japan.


The earthquake was at a depth of 367 km.


No tsunami warning was issued. The earthquake was felt as far away as Tokyo.


There have been no reports of damage.


Japan is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire where many earthquakes occur.
