6.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile
On Wednesday evening a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck 40.6 km south-southwest of Coquimbo, Chile.
The earthquake was at a depth of 41 kilometres. It occurred just off the coast although there was no tsunami threat.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Chile is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region around much of the rim of the Pacific Ocean where earthquakes occur.
