Alberta Confirms 10th Tornado of the Season #ABwx


Environment and Climate Change Canada has confirmed a tornado from July 12 near Nanton, Alberta.


The tornado has been rated an EF-1. The confirmation comes after an investigation of damage sustained to a farm southwest of Nanton by the Northern Tornadoes Project and storm spotters in the region, the rating of the tornado had an estimated wind speed of 150 km/h.


Additionally, a tornado that was reported south of Red Deer on July 7 has been classified as probable, and therefore will officially be part of the 2020 tornado count.


This brings the total number of tornado events across Alberta so far in 2020 to 10.
