Calgary declares State of Local Emergency
The City of Calgary has declared a State of Local Emergency due to the significant rainfall expected.
Total rainfall amounts up to 100 to 150 mm are expected. This will result in a rapid increase in river flows for the Bow River, Elbow River as well as Fish Creek and Pine Creek.
City crews are installing temporary berms between 10th Street N.W. and Edmonton Trail N.E. to protect homes, key roadways and critical infrastructure.
Several roads and pathways in low-lying areas are closed.
Pumps have been deployed in anticipation of flooding rain.
Water levels have been lowered at upstream reservoirs on the Bow River and at the Glenmore Reservoir to make room for additional flood waters.
