Civic holiday national forecast

Today is the Civic Holiday in many parts of Canada. It is not a federal statutory holiday, and the name and observance vary by province and territory.

British Columbia

Southern B.C. will enjoy another warm summer day with plenty of sunshine and only a few afternoon clouds over the mountains. Northern B.C. will see a mix of sun and cloud with the chance of a few isolated showers.

Alberta

Warm temperatures will continue across the province. Afternoon heating combined with the nearby jet stream may spark scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially across central and northern Alberta. Southern areas should remain mostly dry.

Saskatchewan

Expect a warm and somewhat humid day with increasing cloud through the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop, particularly across central and northern Saskatchewan, with some storms capable of producing heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Manitoba

Manitoba will remain in an active weather pattern as the jet stream crosses the province. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread during the afternoon and evening, especially across central and northern regions. Southern Manitoba will be warm and humid ahead of the storms.

Ontario

Northern Ontario will see a mix of sun and cloud with a few scattered showers. Southern and eastern Ontario will be warm and humid, with showers and thunderstorms developing as a low-pressure system approaches from the west. Some storms could become strong during the afternoon and evening.

Quebec

A developing low-pressure system will bring unsettled weather across southern Quebec. Expect periods of showers with embedded thunderstorms, particularly in southern and western regions. Northern Quebec will be cooler with a mix of sun and cloud.

Atlantic Canada

Cloudy skies and periods of rain are expected across much of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and parts of Newfoundland as a low-pressure system tracks through the region. Rain may become locally heavy at times, with brisk winds developing along the Atlantic coast. Labrador will see a mix of sun and cloud, although northern sections may experience a few showers.

The North

The Yukon will remain mainly dry with a mix of sun and cloud. The Northwest Territories will see isolated showers, especially in central and eastern areas. Nunavut will be much cooler, with scattered showers across the mainland and periods of snow continuing over parts of the High Arctic.
