Complex low could bring significant snow to parts of Atlantic Canada

A complex low will impact portions of Atlantic Canada this weekend and early next week.

It looks like significant amounts of snow are expected across eastern Nova Scotia through to parts of Newfoundland.

The low will bring strong winds. Snow combined with strong winds could result in blizzard conditions at times.

Snow will start over Nova Scotia on Saturday night and Newfoundland on Saturday.

Snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm are possible across eastern Nova Scotia including Cape Breton Island.

Across Newfoundland, model guidance this afternoon suggests that the heaviest snow will fall across central Newfoundland and not eastern Newfoundland as originally thought. Eastern Newfoundland could see a rain and snow mix.

It looks like all of the Island will see snow, but how much remains uncertain. The GDPS is coming into agreement with the GFS model while the EURO remains the outlier.
