Earthquake in North Atlantic Ocean

There was a 5.4 magnitude earthquake in the North Atlantic Ocean on Monday evening.

It was centred 1386.1 km northeast of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

It was too far away to be felt and it was at a depth of 10 kilometres.

There was no tsunami threat.

The earthquake occurred on the Reykjanes Ridge, a seismically active area.

A previous version of this story stated the earthquake was west-northwest of St. John's. The direction has been updated.
