Earthquake just north of Montreal


An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 hit 20 km south of Joliette, QC this morning at a depth of 10 kilometres.


The earthquake was felt in Montreal.


There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.


Earthquakes Canada says that the pattern of historical seismic activity shows the earthquakes concentrating in two sub-zones in the area, one along the Ottawa River and the second along a more active Montreal-Maniwaki axis.
