Earthquake off coast of Tonga
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Tonga today at 11:12 a.m. local time.
There earthquake was at a depth of 218 kilometres and was centred 125.9 kilometres northwest of Fangale’ounga, Tonga.
Officials said the was no tsunami threat and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The earthquake was also felt in Fiji and Niue.
Tonga is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a tectonic belt of volcanoes and earthquakes.
