Extreme Heat Setting up over British Columbia

The big weather story over the next few days will be the heat as a heat dome sets up over British Columbia.

As of Friday temperatures will soar into the 30's and the heat will last until Tuesday.

Highs temperatures will range from 29 to 36 degrees Celsius over the next few days. There will be little reprieve overnight with lows of 14 to 16 degrees Celsius.

This extreme heat is dangerous. Watch for signs of heat illness including dizziness or fainting, nausea or vomiting, headache, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst, decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine, and/or changes of behaviour in children like sleepiness or temper tantrums.

Call 911 or your local emergency number immediately if you are caring for someone who has a high body temperature and is either unconscious, confused or has stopped sweating.
