Former WWE Star Missing After Getting Caught in Rip Current

Former WWE star Shad Gaspard is missing after getting caught in a rip current off the coast of California.

On Sunday, Gaspard and his son were among a group of swimmers caught in a strong rip current at Marina del Rey beach in Venice Beach.

Gaspard's son was pulled from the water while Gaspard disappeared under water and has not yet been found.

A rip current is a strong, localized, and narrow current of water which moves directly away from the shore, cutting through the lines of breaking waves like a river running out to sea.

A rip current is strongest and fastest nearest the surface of the water.

Gaspard was a professional wrestler in the WWE, where he teamed with his partner JTG as a member of Cryme Tyme under his real name.

Since departing WWE in 2010, Gaspard pursued an acting career that has included several roles in films and television series like Think Like a Man Too, Get Hard, The Game, and From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. He is also the co-creator of the graphic novel Assassin & Son.
