Heavy snow possible for eastern Newfoundland

Writer: Digital WritersDigital Writers

Circled areas show where the heaviest snow could fall.

An area of low pressure will move across the eastern half of Newfoundland on Wednesday and Wednesday night.

The low has the potential to bring significant amounts of snow to the area.

On Wednesday morning precipitation across the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas will start as rain. The rain will become mixed with or change to snow.

There is not a good consensus on models at this time. It looks like the heaviest snow will fall somewhere over the Burin Peninsula or Avalon Peninsula. Some areas could see 30 cm of snow.

Wind gusts up to 60 km/h are possible.
