Over 30,000 customers are without power in Southern Manitoba as a historic snowstorm slams the province.

Several trees are down and there are widespread school closures.

Travel is not advised in many areas.

The western half of the Red River Valley may be hit with over 50 cm of snow particularly towards the Manitoba escarpment.

Areas closer to the Red River, including the City of Winnipeg, could get between 10 and 25 cm of wet snow.

Very strong winds will accompany this heavy snow as well.

In Northwestern Ontario, additional snowfall amounts up to 15 cm are possible over northern sections, near the Manitoba border.

Additional rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm are possible over areas from Red Lake to Big Trout Lake and in the North of Superior area.
