Models are beginning to trend eastward with Hurricane Ernesto. The storm, currently with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h, is about 795 km south-southwest of Bermuda.

Over the next few days, the storm is expected to remain a hurricane and will track east of Sable Island, Nova Scotia on Monday.

From there, the storm could have an impact on eastern areas of Newfoundland with heavy rain and strong wind. Model guidance brings Ernesto over, or southeast of, the Avalon Peninsula on Monday night into Tuesday as a category one hurricane. By Tuesday, Ernesto is likely to transition to a post-tropical storm.

Right now, the biggest threat is wind, as the heaviest rain will likely remain offshore.
