There will be a few treats for stargazers in January.

In the western sky after sunset on January 4 and 5 you'll be able to see Venus, Mercury, Saturn and Jupiter with the Moon.

After January 5 the planets sink lower while Mercury moves higher in the sky.

By mid-month Venus will be the morning star low in the sky.

Venus will be left of Moon and Mars 40 mins before sunrise on January 29.

Moon Phases:

  • New Moon January 2

  • First Quarter January 9

  • Full Moon January 17

  • Last Quarter January 25
