Japan was jolted by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake on Saturday evening.
The earthquake was in the Hokkaido region and occurred at 6:37 p.m. local time.
It was centred 83.6 km south-southeast of Kushiro, Japan and was at a depth of 10 km.
The earthquake did not generate a tsunami, and there were no immediate reports of any damage.
