The Martin Lake fire remains contained on its northern edge, largely due to support from crews from New Brunswick and Quebec. Efforts are focused on shielding cabins in the area, with no impact on the highway reported.
The Holyrood fire, steady at 22 hectares, shows no signs of spread and is fully contained.
A separate fire, likely sparked by lightning, has broken out 19 km south of Gosse Bay. A helicopter and ground crews have been dispatched to the location.
Reinforcements from Ontario have been held up due to wildfire activity there. However, a high-capacity helicopter—capable of carrying 1,000 gallons and contracted from Manitoba—is expected to arrive tomorrow to bolster firefighting efforts.
