Low to bring messy weather to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia

It looks like another area of low pressure is going to impact Nova Scotia, eastern Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island

Snow will move into the area on Thursday morning and be gone by Thursday night. About 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected.

Winds will not be significant across the area.

Newfoundland

A mix of weather is expected across the island. On Thursday afternoon precipitation will start along the south coast and the Avalon as snow. Snow will change to freezing rain or rain across the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas. Parts of the Avalon could see significant amounts of freezing rain and rain. This will cause snowmelt and could lead to flooding.

The remainder of the island will see snow with the exception of the Great Northern Peninsula where the storm will likely not impact the area. The west coast will see about 5 to 10 cm, central will see 10 to 15 cm and the Avalon will see 2 to 10 cm depending on the amount of freezing rain and rain.

The precipitation will end from west to east on Friday morning.

Across the Avalon and Burin Peninsula wind gusts to 70 km/h are expected. Elsewhere winds will not be significant.
