Messy mix of weather to impact Southern Ontario

A winter storm will impact southern Ontario on Wednesday.

Freezing rain is expected on Wednesday afternoon and evening across parts of southwestern Ontario. The freezing rain could continue into Thursday morning for some areas. By Wednesday night 10 to 15 mm of freezing rain is possible.

A period of ice pellets will fall across areas such as Huron through to the Greater Toronto Area to Niagara on Wednesday evening. There is a possibility that the ice pellets may change to freezing rain.

Snow is expected for areas such as from Grey Bruce across Barrie to the Lake Ontario shore east of Toronto. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible by Wednesday midnight.

There is a possibility of power outages. The snow and freezing rain will create hazardous driving conditions.

There are still uncertainties regarding the exact amounts and timing of the system. The storm will continue on Thursday.
