Mixed precipitation expected across parts of Atlantic Canada



Across most of southern New Brunswick, freezing rain will end this morning. Across Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, Fundy National Park, Kent County, and Kouchibouguac National Park snowfall is expected with 15 to 20 cm possible.


Across Prince Edward Island snow will begin late this morning and taper off overnight tonight with 15 to 20 cm possible. The precipitation will start with rain or freezing rain this morning.


Northern Nova Scotia will also see freezing rain through this morning or afternoon. The precipitation will change to rain this morning over eastern regions and to snow this afternoon in the west.


This morning until midnight, strong winds with gusts to 100 km/h are expected in Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence.


In Newfoundland for the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas, precipitation will begin as snow and ice pellets, transitioning to periods of rain over some coastal areas in the overnight hours. The snow and ice pellets may accumulate rapidly in some locations for a couple of hours. Additionally, some exposed areas may see a few hours of blowing snow due to some moderate wind gusts.


Snow and ice pellet accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is possible. Precipitation will begin this evening and continue until Saturday morning.
