A massive ridge of warm air is blanketing the vast majority of Canada today.
A broad swath of the Prairies is experiencing hot summer temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C, with southern pockets pushing into the 30°C to 40°C range as a massive dome of high pressure settles over the region. High-pressure systems are firmly in control, featuring centers of 1023 hPa and 1024 hPa, keeping skies relatively clear but hot.
British Columbia is enjoying stable, warm weather under a 1022 hPa high-pressure system, with temperatures hovering comfortably in the 10°C to 20°C range along the coast, warming up quickly as you head inland.
Warm air is pushing deep into Central Canada. Northern Ontario and parts of Quebec are seeing temperatures between 10°C and 20°C, while southern regions closer to the Great Lakes are heating up into the 20°C to 30°C bracket.
A low-pressure system sitting at 988 hPa over northern Quebec and Labrador is pulling in unstable air. A massive band of thunderstorms is stretching across Ontario, Quebec, and down through the Maritime provinces, pushing out into the Atlantic.
A low-pressure system of 1004 hPa is sitting over the Northwest Territories, bringing scattered rain to the region.
