NASA confirms discovery of 5,000 planets outside solar system

NASA has confirmed the existence of more than 5,000 planets outside our solar system.

The new discovery marks a milestone of discovery.

These planets are largely larger than Earth. They are mostly composed of rocky surfaces.

The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory made the discovery using powerful telescopes here on Earth.

NASA estimates that there are likely hundreds of billions of such planets in our Milky Way galaxy.
